Exam Question

Compare the attitudes to poverty conveyed in the films you have studied for this topic In the film La Haine poverty is shown in a variety of different way, such as the scene in where Vinz, Said and Hubert arrive in Paris to visit a friend of Said's. As soon as they walk into the building, there is a medium tracking shot of Said as he takes his hat off, this shows his respect towards the upperclass and shows how he is out of his element as back in the projects he would leave his hat on. A pan right is also used to show Said looking around the building looking out of place and dazed. This shows their attitude towards poverty as they seem out of their element in the mise en scene of this house. Horror Genre

Horror Genre  Are women’s representations in horror films to satisfy the male audience through the gaze?  Films Item 1:  Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 I have chosen this film because women are represented as vulnerable and weak in this film, also it offers a range of shots and camera angles that stresses the horror genre. Also women are represented as the victim, which is something i can talk about which relates to my question. I have used this film because i want to compare it to the 1984 version, and compare how women are represented differently in the different years and how its evolved over time. This is a good film to use because it shows how women are represented within the horror genre.  Item 2:  Wrong Turn 2003 I have chosen this film as the women are represented also as victims, however within this film, there is two representing of women, the clumsy women who dies first and the heroic women who survives at the end.
